Database of fossil turtles

A POLONEZ BIS project, led by Dr. Milan Chroust in collaboration with Dr. Tomasz Szczygielski from the Institute of Paleobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, allowed launch of a database of fossil turtles from the territory of modern day Poland and Czechia – Turtle Evolution Database. The database includes information about specimens, photographs, links to 3D models, and bibliography. Those data will be completed in the following years. Eventually, the covered geographic area may be extended to include more countries. An introduction to the database took form of a paper in the Swiss Journal of Palaeontology, which at the same time provides a review of new and historical localities with turtle fossils.
