In the case of large vertebrate bones, such a mode of preservation is, however, rare. The paper presents a natural external mold of a turtle <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Turtle_shell#Plastron\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plastron<\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Triassic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Triassic<\/a> L\u00f6wenstein Formation of Germany. The specimen represents an exceptionally large individual, larger than the known representatives of <i><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Proterochersis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Proterochersis<\/a> robusta<\/i> from the same formation and close in size to <i>P. porebensis<\/i> from the Grabowa Formation of Poland.
