The fish that inhabited this sea left no skeletal remains, but have been identified based on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Otolith\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">otoliths<\/a>, found in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/W%C4%85wa%C5%82,_%C5%81%C3%B3d%C5%BA_Voivodeship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">W\u0105wa\u0142<\/a>, central Poland. Those \u201cearstones\u201d are responsible (among others) for sense of balance. This study shows that Early Cretaceous seas covering Poland were populated by the ancestors of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Argentinidae\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">silverfish<\/a>, Japanese gisu fish, and cousins of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Elopidae\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">slanderers<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bonefishes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">albulas<\/a> and marine relatives of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Arapaima\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arapaima<\/a>.
